🏡 Welcome to Issue #6 of the Aurora Newsletter

Hi neighbors,

If you’ve ever found yourself jumping between Facebook groups trying to figure out what’s going on around town — you’re not alone.

That’s exactly why I started this — to make it easier.

👉 Everything happening in Aurora — all in one place
👉 Local events and community updates
👉 A way to discover small businesses

Each week, I’ll gather what’s happening and send it out — simple, local, and easy to keep up with.

If you find it helpful, feel free to share it with a friend or neighbor.

♻️ A Hidden Gem in Aurora: Reuse, Recycle & Create

With Earth Day this week, it’s the perfect time to highlight something many people don’t even realize exists right here in Aurora…

👉 The Dearborn County Recycling Center offers much more than just recycling.

📍 10700 Prospect Ln., Aurora
🌐 dearborncountyrecycles.com
📞 812-926-9963

🚗 Easy Drive-Thru Recycling

One of the most convenient features is their drive-thru recycling center.

Pull up, drop off your items, and be on your way—no unloading hassle.

Drive-through recycling makes it quick and easy to drop off items locally.

🎨 The Creation Station

Inside, you’ll find the Creation Station, a not-for-profit reuse center filled with donated materials from the community and local businesses.

You’ll find:

  • Craft supplies (paint, yarn, ribbon, beads)

  • Classroom materials (notebooks, binders, flashcards)

  • Household items (baskets, jars, games)

The goal is simple:
👉 Keep usable items out of landfills while helping educators and the community.

📊 Since 2004, over 53 tons of materials have been diverted from landfills

🕒 Open Wednesdays: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

💍 Wedding, Shower Decor & 👗 Formal Dress Reuse

Reusable wedding and event décor available at the Dearborn County Recycling Center. A surprising find inside the recycling center…

One of the most surprising parts of the center is a reuse area filled with beautiful event décor and formal wear.

You’ll find:

  • Wedding and bridal shower décor

  • Baby shower and event decorations

  • Centerpieces, vases, signs, and more

  • Prom and formal dresses

Instead of buying everything new, these items can be reused—saving money while keeping perfectly good items out of landfills.

🕒 Open Wednesdays: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

♻️ Recycling Drop-Off Locations Around Town

In addition to the main facility, recycling trailer bins are placed throughout Dearborn County, making it easy to recycle close to home.

📍 Locations include:

  • Aurora (Heart House)

  • Bright (Elementary School / Merrilee’s Hardware)

  • Dillsboro

  • Greendale

  • Lawrenceburg (near Speedway and Haag Ford off US-50)

  • St. Leon

These bins accept items like mixed paper and cardboard—just check the posted signs.

🌎 Why It Matters

Programs like this make it easy to:

  • Reduce waste

  • Reuse what we already have

  • Support the local community

And the best part?
